Module 0: Getting Started

Website Tour

Website organization

  • This is a quick tour of your course website!
  • The homepage is your main entrance point for the course.  There everything is organized into modules and then into topics.

What is a module?  And what is a topic?

  • A module is an organizing unit for class.  Each module focuses on a single subject that we will cover in class (some will take a week, some will take several!).
  • Each module opens with an overview.  This gives you a quick overview of what that module will cover.
  • After the overview, each module consists of several topics.  Since the class is in person, the topics will contain readings and links that are needed to cover the topic in class. All topics will have some required reading and some will have additional optional reading available.
  • Every topic page (like this one!) will have a link at the bottom to the menu for that module, where you can hop from any page in the module to any other page

Module Example

Cross-cutting modules

  • At the bottom of the homepage, there are two cross-cutting modules.
  • The first focuses on the semester project and the second has a collection of all the important links you need, including the full semester schedule and the syllabus.
