Module 4: Interdisciplinary and Convergent Teams

Overview

Convergence Research

In this class, you are working with people across several disciplines for your project but you probably are still in the process of learning how to speak the same language, how to best merge your skills, and how to figure out what sorts of problems are interesting to all of your disciplines.

In this module, we are going to discuss how to create effective interdisciplinary teams by doing a brief overview of team science concepts. We will also discuss the need to co-produce or co-develop large-scale projects.

Overall our goal is create Convergent Research (please read the NSF definition and discussion on the linked page!). We probably won’t fully reach convergent in class by the NSF definition but I want you to be equipped to work well in interdisciplinary teams for your careers and this is a great way to start.
